With the weather improving and the sun shining, over 70 youngsters made their way to Stony Stratford Tennis Club on Sunday 23rd March for the Tennis MK Junior Matchplay and Mini Tennis Festival.

Tennis MK is a local organisation that organises local competition and leagues for tennis clubs in and around Milton Keynes. This event was the finale to the winter junior tennis season in which children from the local clubs could come and compete against others of a similar age and ability.

It all kicked off at 10am with players in the 12&U, 14&U and 16&U competing in their groups and between 1pm and 3pm, over 30 mini tennis players aged 4 to 9 came and enjoyed 2 hours of fun, games and matches with the Tennis Works coaches. The event was the first of its kind organised by Tennis MK and local coaching organisation, Tennis Works and the response was outstanding. Vice chairman of Tennis MK and the tournament referee, Pete Tolaini said, “It’s been an incredible day and to see so many kids playing tennis is wonderful. Tennis is such a great game that can be enjoyed by everyone so it doesn’t matter what your level, you should still get involved. Today was about getting children from many clubs together and I hope that they have gone away with a smile on their face and are thirsty for more competition soon”.
