Homework for 14th June 2012

Hi Guys,

Hope you enjoyed the French Open and learned lots from watching the pro's! We now quickly turn to the grass court season and the build up to Wimbledon in a few weeks time. There are some big differences between hard, clay and grass courts, so what I would like you to do is to suggest 3 good tactics to use on grass and for each tactic say what tools you need to develop. To give you an example but using clay courts, my tactic could be to push my opponent back and the tools I need is to develop are high heavy top spin forehands and backhands.

Hope this makes sense and see you all soon!

Homework for 31st May 2012

Hi Guys

I need to get back into the routine of sending homework, so here is some for Thursday. I would like you predictions for who will win the Men's and Women's French Open titles and why.

As this is a clay court event, can you also tell me 3 good and 3 bad tactics when playing on clay.

See you soon

Homework for 3rd May 2012

Hi Guys,

Homework time! For this week, I would like you to spend 10 minutes watching tennis players competing, whether it is on You Tube, the TV etc. I would like you to tell me the name of the player and what their routine is inbetween points e.g. what do they do to prepare themselves for the next point. You may want to look at a few players and see what they do the same and what they do differently.

See you soon,

Homework for 22nd March 2012

Hi Folks,

Sorry that there hasn't been much homework in the past couple of weeks, but here is your task for this Thursday. Can you please write a list of items that you should pack in your kit bag when going to a tournament. As we approach the tournament season, it is important that everyone prepares properly so this is a great task to ensure you have a list to refer to when packing your bag.

See you all soon!

Homework for 1st March 2012

Hi everyone,

Sorry I didn't semd this homework to you before. A nice simple one for this week. You must come up with a warm up game that we can do at the start of the session. The game must include a ball and preferably be in teams.

I also want you to think about 3 tactics you can use in tennis when you are rallying, 3 tactics for serving and 3 tactics for returning. Please write them down and give them to me at the start of the session.

See you soon,

JohnLaughing

Homework for 23rd Feb 2012

Hi Guys,

If you are competing this week then please update the Tennis Manager with your competitions and then enter your feedback / results after the matches. Remember to share the entries with me!

For next week I would like everyone to complete their weekly training schedule by going to your Tennis Manager and clicking on 'Create Training Session'. You will need to create a training session for each time you train each week and please use the 'repeat' option to repeat the session each week. You will also need to share each entry with me. After each training session you can go back into the entry and update how the session went and any feedback. I will then give my feedback once I've seen what you have said.

See you all soon,

John Cool

Homework for 9th Feb 2012

Hi Guys,

After our conversation last night, I hope you can put aside 10 minutes to do the homework. I know you have lots of other things to do but this homework isn't compulsary...it's just for those who want to develop ownership of their tennis to become a better player. By doing things for yourself outside of the sessions helps you be responsible and at the same time you will be learning more about the game.

We didn't do the serving exercises as it was so cold and I didn't want people stopping, so we'll do these when the weather is warmer.

You all need to create some goals for 2012! Without goals or targets, it is difficult to know what you are aiming to improve. This task may take 15-20 minutes but will be valuable for you, your parents and me plus any other coaches involved in your programme. Please go to the Tennis Manager section in the site and follow the steps below:

Homework for 2nd Feb 2012

Hi Guys,

Hope the session went well with Seb yesterday and that you were able to chat with him about the Aussie Open...I will talk with Seb and see what he says about your observations!

This week I have 1 articles for you to read and one bit of research. Please click on this link to read the article: http://www.tennisworks.net/content/Attack%20rally%20neutralise%20defend/playing-purpose

I would like you all to come up with one exercise that you feel will help you improve your serve. You can look through the site for ideas. The things you must understand are:

1. What you are tryng to achieve with your serve

2. How the exercise will help you

3. Once you've practiced the exercise you will need to know what still needs work on.

We will spend some time next session doing some of these exercises and I will be asking you the above questions.

See you all soon!

Cavill Academy Group has been created

Hi Tom

You are the first person from the Cavill Academy to join the site! I have created a group called 'Cavill Academy' so we can all communicate via the group messaging.

As the others join, i will add them to the group.

I have also fixed the sharing permissions in the Tennis Manager, so I can now see your programme. It would be good if you could have a go at your goal setting and then we can go through this in Mallorca.

See you soon,

John
