Phil Hill shares with us his thoughts, observations and understanding of Talent Development within tennis in this Tennis Works Webinar, 'Exploring junior player development'.

Producing tennis players involves many elements combined around a players personality and preferences. Talent ID is also a term that is associated with young players who are performing well, but how do these labels enhance or hinder a players long term development? What we associate as ‘Talented’ is very important if we are going to produce good tennis players as there are fundamental stages required to develop a players physical, technical, tactical and mental areas of their game.

Pre-puberty and post puberty are also significant stages in a child’s development and to understand the physical and mental affects that they go through during these periods is important for us to be able to help them.

Phil Hill has spent the last 20 years coaching and teaching pupils of all abilities working predominantly with Performance Players. Having played to Junior County level (in Kent) and Senior County in Bucks (current O35 Captain). He has coached in the UK, Italy (Biella) and Spain (Barcelona, Bruguera Academy) as well as for the LTA (Bucks County Performance Officer) to name a few. He has worked with mini, junior,  ATP & WTA Professional Players. Phil is an LTA PCA Coach and LTA Coach Education Tutor. He is currently the Head of 10 & Under Player Potential at Everyball Tennis Academy at Halton Tennis Club and a coaching consultant to the Cavill Academy ran by Tennis Works.
