Back, Bounce, Hit – Early Preparation

In this drill, we focus on improving early preparation for a deep cross-court forehand shot. Players will practice reacting to the ball and maintaining focus on timing, balance, and technique.

The drill:

  • The coach feeds the ball into the player’s court, initiating the drill.
  • As the ball crosses the net, the player must shout “back,” signaling they are starting their preparation.
  • When the ball bounces, the player shouts “bounce,” preparing to move into position for the shot.
  • Upon striking the ball, the player shouts “hit,” ensuring proper contact with the ball at the right moment.
